We arrived at Shuart at about 1500 and the bushes were alive with Redwings in five minutes we had counted 1100 not to mention 350 Fieldfares flying over west. The odd thing was that there were none at Reculver or Bishopstone or in the bushes at Chamber's Wall and it appeared they were moving west in a narrow band equidistant between the railway line and the Thanet Way.

The highlight of this mornings ringing was catching a Robin with a Stavanger, Norway ring on it. I'm still waiting for details of a Pied Flycatcher I caught in 2004 with a similar ring, so I'm not holding my breath as I wait for its ringing details!

October 12th An early morning call from Barry Hunt had Anne and me rushing to Bishopstone Glen where he had found a newly arrived RADDE'S WARBLER in the clifftop bushes. Although quick moving and skulking on occasions it gave very good, if brief views, as it moved through the foliage calling frequently. During the morning it called less and less and it was last seen about 1020. This was a long expected new species for the recording area.
Barry hadn't finished as I had another phone call just after lunch to say that he had found another skulker. This time it was a Dartford Warbler in the cliff scrub below Reculver Drive.
