Egyptian Goose (on EF then flew W), 10 Turtle Dove (incl. ads. in trees just W of cottages and on weathervane, plus seven birds together (incl. at least five juvs.) on wires well to the W of cottages), 4 Water Rail (pair with two chicks showing well in DD again), 5 Little Ringed Plover (EF incl. ad. with two young still), 10 Whimbrel, 254 Black-tailed Godwit (four on EF at high tide, plus circa 250 in FC), 1 Green Sandpiper (on W side dyke), 4 Dunlin (three on EF and one in FC), 1 Bonaparte's Gull (moulting ad. on mud E of slipway again), 20 Cattle Egret (+ with cattle W of road and with sheep from DD), 3 Swift (flew S), 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Hobby (hunting over WF first thing), 1 Grasshopper Warbler (a smart and bright juvenile showed well for a couple of mins. in a sheltered corner of DD coming down onto the mud - as good a view of a silent Autumn bird as I've had here!), 5 Yellow Wagtail (+)

Shellness (Sheppey) (16:15 to 18:30) Warm and sunny, high cloud, NE 3/4 wind. High tide. All observations relate to point roost. [Murray Orchard]  Map

740 Oystercatcher, 1 Grey Plover, 55 Ringed Plover, 2 Common Sandpiper, 505 Turnstone (personal record count, majority of birds were adults in breeding plumage), 19 Sanderling, 71 Dunlin, 140+ Sandwich Tern (130 at beach roost, 10 offshore but many had flown out to sea to feed), 2 Common Tern, 2 Mediterranean Gull (ad/2CY), 1 Common Gull (adult)

10 Stock Dove (Showed well as they catapulted through the woodland.), 1 Black Kite (A possible bird flew low over the area, showing signs of Black Kite, no pictures but I am almost certain it was. I also put it on Birdguides but apparently it was 'erroneous', I'm sorry but I wouldn't lie to two things in a space of around 10 minutes.), 5 Treecreeper (I didn't see any, so 5 birds as an estimate were calling.), 1 Pied Flycatcher (Bird from last week confirmed as I refound it and got good views), 50 Greenfinch (Another estimate! Probably the biggest surprise of the day! Gave excellent views and I was able to get the best views I have ever had of some!)
